Curriculum
Stella
Maris
College offers a broad curriculum that fosters and challenges the individuality, creativity, initiative and academic ability of all students. The College has been at the forefront of curriculum innovation by making it possible for students to study in the areas and levels most appropriate to their abilities, needs and interests. This is being taken further through an emphasis on individual learning. Academic excellence is promoted by encouraging all students to realise their full potential in preparation for the workforce and further education.
Student Success Program
Stella Maris recognises that there are students with high academic ability in the school whose talents and interests require a special program. The Stella Maris Student Success Program (SSP) meets the needs of advanced students by providing them with the opportunity to undertake a project in their area of interest, providing extra learning opportunities both within and beyond the classroom. These individual projects engage, inspire and extend advanced students in order to provide them with appropriate education for their needs.
Once completing the Program students will receive a Certificate of Achievement. They will also receive a Silver Merit Award at Presentation night, and display their projects at Stella Alive. They may then apply for the leadership role of Academic Mentor in Year 11. On completion of one year in this leadership role students will then receive a Gold Merit Award.
